ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to evaluate the influence of tuberculosis on academic performance of primary school pupils in Aba north Abia state. Specifically, the study aims toexamine the causes of tuberculosis among pupils in Aba north Abia state, find out whether tuberculosis have an influence on academic performance of primary school pupils in aba north Abia state, assess whether there is treatment for tuberculosis in schools health centers and recommend strategies that can be used to manage tuberculosis among pupils in Aba north Abia state. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 141 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that Tuberculosis have an influence on academic performance of primary school pupils in aba north Abia state. The study thereby recommend that social mobilization needs to filter through to the primary school children so as to improve TB awareness and enhance TB control efforts. Also, effective school health services should be established in all our primary and secondary schools in Aba north, Abia State to aid early detection of these contagious diseases and prompt commencement of treatment. Finally, pre-school entry medical exams should be made compulsory in all the primary and secondary schools in Aba north, Abia State.
